Re: Congratulations to the Powell Valley Vikings!
It doesn't matter who is Champs in regular season. The last team standing at the end will have all the bragging rights. Just like in football season this year raiders won the regular season but it was Clintwood who won the region. Win the region it doesn;t matter who won or was tied in the regular season. So there enough said
Re: Congratulations to the Powell Valley Vikings!
Well since no team in the LPD really has a chance of winning the regional tournament, I'm going to call your assessment a load of BS.
We would have "Tri-Champs" if there were no tie-breaker. The essential problem which prevents this situation from being the case is that we do have a tie-breaker which corrinates the actual champion and regional birth recipient.
There is nothing that I can or will do to dispute Gate City's 2004 LPD Title, because they beat us fair and square in the regular season tie breaker. Similarly, you cannot dispute the results of this regular season tie-breaker. The other two teams are still in the hunt and will have the opportunity to do well if they succeed in the district tournament. Congrats to PV and good luck to both Burton and the classy Indians of JJ Kelly in the tournament.
Re: Congratulations to the Powell Valley Vikings!
Maybe they should have 6 co-coaches of the year with that way most selection teams go now a days. That way it won't hurt any coaches feelings.
Re: Congratulations to the Powell Valley Vikings!
I don't even keep up with basketball, nor do I hold any interest in it at all...but common sense tells ya this much: If there was a 3 way tie for the title, and there was a 3 team playoff to determine seeds, the winner of that playoff is the ONLY team with a legitimate claim to being the best team in the district...IMO that's why they had the playoff. Furthermore, as far as the coach of the year goes, the winner of that playoff will prolly rack that up as well.
Re: Congratulations to the Powell Valley Vikings!
Well the paper this morning counts it as Coach Wilson's 6th district championship and Burtons first since 1993 and JIB-JJK-PV as Tri-champs....its what you do in the regular season, which at the end all three of us had a 7-3 record....PV couldve ended it friday, wise couldve against appy...we couldve also....we didnt, they didnt either
Re: Congratulations to the Powell Valley Vikings!
The award is Coach of the Year..not coach for a career...lol
Re: Congratulations to the Powell Valley Vikings!
